At this event we also met the RIO representative and will soon set a meeting to see what will be required to have RIO support for the pipe. It's definitly looking good. Saputo nous a assuré qu'il n'est et n'a pas été question de démolir le Big-O. Nous avons aussi établi un contact avec la RIO et devrions les rencontrer d'ici peu pour établir le futur du Pipe et établir un plan. Suite à l'article dans La Presse nous avons eu la visite de Radio-Canada pour un reportage au pipe qui devrait être diffusé se soir à la télé. It unites so many people together from all over the world from australia to albany, and it typifies human goodwill and respect- one love, for real... Things that are increasingly rare in today's society, transcending gender, age and social status- this needs to be preserved. The minute cost that it would take to move it would increase it's social and communal value tenfold- something no other municipal project has ever hoped or been able to acheive. Just to compare- I have not once heard of someone travelling from abroad to skate for example, Jarry park- montreal's oldest existing concrete park- because it had such legendary status as the stadium pipe or such a reputation for killer terrain and good vibrations. The pipe is typical DIY- from shoveling the snow in winter to bringing candles and lights to skate at night. It's been going on for twenty years this year! How many municipal projects have this heritage?
